Here’s How You Can Get Involved With HFM

Hawaii Fashion Month is just around the corner — it’s in November this year! So anybody with an interest in volunteering, sponsoring, or hosting an event during the month, now is the time to join.

We’ve got our annual Volunteer Meet-up at the Ward Warehouse Kakaako Conference Room on Sept. 14 (11:30am) where you can hear from all our departments and find your best fit, from social media to event support.  The Meet-up is followed at 1:30 pm by a model Casting Call.

If you want to host an event, submissions for those, as well as volunteer registrations and sponsor inquiries, are accepted through the website at www.hawaiifashionmonth.com/get-involved.

We’re looking to have everything in by Sept. 13.

“HFM is our opportunity to highlight all aspects of Hawaii’s fashion industry – designers, stylists, make-up artists, photographers, show producers, and many more,” said HFM Co-Chair and Hawaii Fashion Incubator co-founder Melissa White. “There is so much talent here in the islands, and we want to celebrate the contributions to our economy, community, and culture.”

We want to see everyone from industry professionals to anybody who loves fashion to get involved.

Opportunities include:
  • Event Hosts – Submit an event for the official HFM Calendar. Events during the month of November that showcase an aspect of Hawaii fashion are eligible for consideration (design, styling, art, education, history, modeling, photography, manufacturing and more). Non-Hawaii designers and businesses may participate by collaborating with local brands or showcasing an aspect of the local industry.
  • Sponsors – Brands and companies wishing to align their brand with Hawaii Fashion Month and reach hundreds of thousands of fashion enthusiasts and professionals statewide and beyond.  Various benefits packages are available.
  • Volunteers – Individuals are needed to assist on various aspects during the month including modeling, styling, hair, make-up, event support, fashion show production, guest relations, marketing, social media, photography and videography.

Planned events range from large fashion shows and marketplaces at major shopping centers, to designer launches, fashion films, and photography displays. The focus remains on bringing the community together to showcase, learn, sell and connect with the Hawaii fashion industry.

Confirmed HFM 2014 sponsors include HONOLULU Magazine (Official Magazine Sponsor), KITV4 (Official TV Sponsor), The MODERN Honolulu (Official Hotel Sponsor), Hawaiian Airlines (Official Airline Sponsor), Stila Cosmetics, FROLIC Hawaii, Aston Hotels and Resorts, Uber, American Savings Bank, and Nella Media Group.

New for HFM 2014 is HIFI’s launch of the Hawaii Fashion Exchange (HFX), a membership-based online platform for Hawaii’s fashion industry professionals to promote their work and connect with opportunities, and for the public to discover the faces of Hawaii fashion.  HFM event hosts and sponsors can utilize HFX to find talent and resources for their events and post exclusive offers targeted to the fashion industry.
